Sea Storm Studios is a boutique film production studio on the Northern California coast founded by Leigh Anne Lindsey who created several film festival sizzle reels and tourism videos and is now working on future documentaries, TV series, and movies. One of those documentaries is "Seabiscuit's Legacy" a feature length documentary on courage , hope and healing. It will be an inspirational documentary about the uplifting and healing effect the against-all-odds spirit the little racehorse embodied had on those around him, and how that legacy continues today at The Home of Seabiscuit, Ridgewood Ranch, where the healing connection between horse and human is manifest through an equine therapy program for disadvantaged children and wounded veterans. More healing continues through conservation and preservation efforts which help protect and conserve the land, and Adventist Health-Howard Memorial Hospital, built by Seabiscuit’s owner Charles Howard in 1927.

Top 10% in Hospital quality care in the Country at the Frank R. Howard - Adventist Health Hospital in Willits, thanks to Dr. Bill Bowen, Margie Handley, The Howard Foundation, and the Adventist Health team. Charles S. Howard (owner of Seabiscuit - the bronze seen in this short video at the dedication of the new hospital) helped build the first hospital in the early 20s. The Home of Seabiscuit, Ridgewood Ranch (6000 acres today, 16, 000 acres back in the day the Howards and Seabiscuit), is just South of Willits to the West of Highway 101 in Northern California's Mendocino County.

We hope you'll enjoy this this interview filmed in 2013 with Joyce Demits who helped create the Rose Gardens at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens and was the Co-Curator while alive. In this historical video, she talks about her passion for roses and the history of the Rose Gardens in this beautiful 40 acre coastal gardens on the Northern California Coast. Joyce Nadine Demits passed away July 25, 2017, following a sudden illness. Born Joyce Nadine Mitchell in Ukiah, California, to Ned and Edna Mitchell of Branscomb, she was 81. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gary Blake Demits, by 11 years 1 month and 1 day. Now she has joined her first and only true love, best friend and husband in eternal rest. She will be missed and mourned for her special giving and sharing of her knowledge and passion for beautiful gardens. Known as the Rose Lady, she touched many lives. For many years, she and her sister, Virginia Hopper, grew and sold heritage roses. Together they pioneered the Heritage Rose Group and AKA Rose Rustlers to preserve antique roses. She also belonged to the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens and the Northern California Trails Council. She loved the Mendocino Coast with all the beauty of nature that surrounds us. When the wine is a blend of various grapes, none of which constitutes a 75 percent majority, winemakers may call it by a proprietary name of their choice— even “Red Wine”—without having to list the varietals on the label. In addition, to have the region or appellation on the label, 85 percent of the wine in the bottle must come from that appellation. However, in France, Spain, and Italy, all wine labels bear the names of the districts and villages from which they come, such as Chablis (France), or Barolo (Italy), which are named after their respective districts or communes. These European appellations are also required to abide by regulations and limitations in order to do this, including being judged as representative of the region, and undergoing a “taste test” to confirm a similarity to other wines of the region. To date, there has been no U.S. equivalent to this process—until recently. Following the lead of these European appellations, several Mendocino County California winemakers formed a consortium a decade ago to create and bottle a blended wine to showcase zinfandel, considered to be the heritage varietal of Mendocino County. They decided to call the new blend “Coro,” from the Latin for “chorus.” This would be the first wine of its kind in the U.S. to set blending and aging criteria for a wine distinctive to its region. As with the European wines, the Coro Mendocino wines must follow strict rules concerning wine chemistry and barrel and bottle aging before the release of this limited case production, all of which are produced at the Parducci facility in Ukiah. Every Coro wine requires only Mendocino County grapes be used, and only from their respective estate vineyards. The participating wineries must begin with 40 to 70 percent zinfandel, which may be blended with up to nine additional varietals, in homage to the many old Italian “field blends” once produced locally. Each winemaker creates a blend that doesn’t just represent Mendocino but also their own individual style. In order to be certified, the Coro wines must pass a review by a panel of winemakers. There are four blind tastings before the wines are accepted and certified to carry the Coro Mendocino label. Once they pass, they’re bottled in a uniformly standard bottle, labeled and marked with the Coro seal. The 2011 vintage marks the 11th release for Coro Mendocino, and includes wines from eight diverse Mendocino County vintners. This documentary was meant to be completed in 2017, but a death in the family and the subsequent waves that caused , prevented the head Producer of the project (Leigh Anne Lindsey) from moving forward for a few years. In late 2021 to early 2022, operations are resuming and she and others are working towards completion in the coming couple of years. As Lindsey says, "It's a story of inspiration, courage, love, faith and hope which must be told for others around the world to be uplifted and encouraged. In the last quarter of 2021, Sea Storm's Producer Leigh Anne Lindsey is back in development on this feature-length, uplifting and inspirational documentary. SEABISCUIT'S LEGACY is about how this Underdog Horse continues to have a positive impact at The Home of Seabiscuit, a Small Rural Community in Northern California, where magical transformations continue between horses and humans. Just as they did in Seabiscuit's day with the Howard Family and a nation stricken by the Great Depression, so it is today in a therapeutic riding program on the ranch, a hospital the Howards helped build, and community gardens at both hospital and ranch which serve those in need. We look forward to the magic we can make happen in 2022 on this enduring story about this amazing horse and history which transformed a nation and world at large.
